Forum URL: bigcheesy.proboards.com/I was only working on the smiley dropdowns this morning, but extensively, like thru the manage plug-ins as well as the 'admin/smiley', plug-in that lists all your dupes and you delete them right there (doesn't work that well). Anyway, whenever I go and quote someone, or even edit, I get the word title' with quotes and brackets like 500 times. Also the word 'img' with all that appears after you post something you quoted. My forum is a bit diff in that when you quote, it doesn't appear in boxes within boxes. You get the full "[ quote]" and "[ / quote] See, I already screwed up the boxes on the edit. lol

If so, Todge wrote both so you'd likely get the best help by posting in the help thread for one of those. Also, I recommend a read of the Support Board Rules (Posting Guidelines), particular the section (step 3) on thread titles. A descriptive thread title is useful in alerting those members who have skills in the particular area of your issue.

Adding to the above post, if you are able to open up the forum to Guests, it may help diagnose the problem you are having. Otherwise, you are welcome to check back tomorrow for one of the staff who will be able to access the forum without you removing the Guests Must Login

Sorry, your welcome will mention that this was a defunct PB sicne 2015, now reactivated Dec 2018. Like I said, I was working on the smileys, but the smileys are not the problem, it's the crazy chit I get when you quote or edit. It's crashing my whole computer (which is not near memory capacity for a change. bigcheesy.proboards.com/thread/297/who-wins It tried to refresh, says at the bottom left, the refresh is searching for beekeepingforum.com. Anyone you know? lol Crash is followed by a popup that says 'page unresponsive', you can wait for it or close it'. Never got that b4 either. Crashing every time now.

In the meantime, I fear all the (very few) active threads will suffer the same fate if it doesn't get fixed soon. Thanks again!!! And again, it was only the smiley stuff I was messing with this morning, nothing else.

Are any of your smilies hosted by that beekeeping forum?
You could also try using the word censor to break that url that it's searching for.

By 'that thread', it would appear you mean this one: bigcheesy.proboards.com/thread/297/who-winsAnd the problem seems to start at this post: bigcheesy.proboards.com/post/3677That takes a ridiculous amount of time for my computer to load. I don't know if it's related to the plugins though. I'd suggest moving that thread to a board where no one else has access. Perhaps make a new board called Quarantine or something like that and set the permissions for who can view and access to 'custom'. That will keep it out of view and also prevent those posts from showing up on your recent posts list. But the thread will still be available for the ProBoards Admins to evaluate when they're in their office tomorrow. Their hours are listed here: link

divebitch, I did notice your smilies are linked from various sources that are not designed to be image hosts. You should download the images you wish to use and then host them on a true image hosting service. Our Help Guide article of External Resources has a list of forum friendly hosts. Whether or not this is the cause of your issue I can't say for sure since viewing from home I don't have access to all my diagnostic tools. However, there have been instances of 3rd-party linked images causing issues. Since you stated this has been your only recent change to the forum I would suggest starting here in the meantime.

I notice that the plugin you are using is a really old version - 5 years old in fact - and there is a newer version which i would definitely recommend upgrading to: www.proboards.com/library/plugins/item/70If you could also go through and edit those posts to remove the bbcode, that should stop the page from crashing. You can turn off image loading in your browser temporarily to access the page without it crashing. You may need to refer to your browser's help files on how to do that. Or, if you are happy to, you can delete those posts which are affected. If that doesn't help relieve the problem, could i ask that you try disabling all plugins, and see if the issue remains.

That beekeeping is apparently one of PB's clients, no? And the only thing worth noting here in terms of troubleshooting, is that the only thing I tried to do/did was delete the smiley duplicates. Apparently, I'd copied and pasted some dupes, and just wanted a trim. Then some from a site (freesmiley.org?) no longer worked, so I deleted those, and had to do a boatload of renumbering. Sorry, but I'm really bewildered by that last sentence. 'censor'?

divebitch , I did notice your smilies are linked from various sources that are not designed to be image hosts. Thanks much, but I doubt it. I didn't add any new smiley sources, just deleted dupes. Then there was that plug-in accessed from home page under 'admin' called 'smileys'. It highlighted and offered to delete dupes, but it mal-performed, didn't delete them. But the later dupes I has mis-numbered starting at 0, so maybe that didn't sit right. Still don't see what that had to do with everything else, but what do I know. Thing is, even if I quarantine the thread, it's gonna happen everywhere else as soon as anyone gets quoted or edits their post. EDIT: Scott, we've been using those smileys for years, maybe a few new ones no more recent than 2 months ago. with no issues other than a broken smiley (ripped paper icon).
