Attracting members

Hi there.

How do I get new members to join? I created my forum only a couple of days a go and I know it takes time.

It is a forum for mental health. Any advice appreciated.

People are unlikely to just stumble across your forum, start off by inviting people you know who can join in any discussion and hopefully they will do the same.

Are there any on-line platforms you belong to,Facebook and the like?

As elhombre said, try inviting people you know to be members.
In the meantime, nobody wants to join an empty forum.
Try searching for news items on Mental Health, and create a thread or two around the most interesting. There has to be content for potential members to read, and hopefully make them want to join to add comment to.

To help you.

1) Post topics, articles that relate to your main topic of discussion.
2) Advertise -- support.proboards.com/board/1/advertise-forum
3) It takes time and patience. Just keep posting related topics.
4) Maybe combine the (bipolar/Depression/??) sections to add a Mental Health section instead. Also maybe a general health section. There is a lot more that impacts a person health-wise. (you don't have to do this though.)
5) Appearance - Theme creation -- what would you like it to look like.?
6) Is your settings set to input your forum in the directory? Take a look and see.
ADMIN > FORUM SETTINGS > DIRECTORY

Absolutely, for me, I need members of the caragius discussion, let me start advertising my forum

Have you thought about doing exchanges with other people who have forums? You some people will do this....you do X amount of posts on their forum and the other person does the same amount of posts on your forum. You can do one time exchanges or you can agree to do active exchanges, however, that would be based on how much each of you know about the niche` on the other's forum.

Asking for it here is against the rules, but there's nothing saying forum owners can't get together with other forum owners and do it. If you advertise here on Support, don't mention that in your ad.

I understand.  That's good to know. 

There are other places you can go to where you can find such services.  Usually on forums that are promotional type forums.
