Text To Speech Plug-in

Not sure if this has been requested before, but are there any plug-ins etc that can on request, allow our forum to be read to our visually impaired
members/ guest so that they can a hear a shared post?

I wasn't able to find such a plugin, in the ProBoards Library or anywhere on the support forum. But it does seem like it would be a great one to have.

I think you might want to change your thread title to something like: Text to Speech plugin?, as that's better way to describe what you're asking for.

For what it's worth, there is an add-on for the Chrome browser: chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/read-aloud-a-text-to-spee/hdhinadidafjejdhmfkjgnolgimiaplp?hl=en

Not quite as nice as having a plugin available on your forum so all can use it, but that might be of interest to some of your members until a plugin might be written.

Talking Posts v0.2.1
It's a proof of concept plugin made by Peter so not supported in any official capacity due to it employing a nonstandard unpolished API which would not work across all browsers (only Chrome?) but it does read aloud the contents of posts (not miniprofies, titles, sidebars or any other superfluous elements which might become annoying)

I remember this plugin fondly because it introduced me to Google's implementation of TTS  and inspired me to create a talking chessboard^[1] plugin using that very same API.

Thanks guys for this and I have now changed the tread title to 'Text To Speech Plug-in' as I an sure many would benefit. In the mean time, I will try the provided link and offer that to any one who might be able to benefit from that.
