Is there a way to make the board desciption change into a scrollbar when the text goest past a certain part, rather than stretching the board?

In many cases, you can define the size of a container and use the css overflow:auto; to produce scroll bars if the contents are too large for the container.
But in the case of a board description, that won't work unless a lot of changes are made to the Board List layout template. Normally, the entire table row is a clickable link. You wouldn't be able to touch the controls for the scrollbars without taking the link to the board.
