Anyone here from Norway? Or have ancestors from?
Finding out that my grandmas grandpa came across to the US settled in Wisconsin, and my Grandpas grandpa also the same with little ones. My grandma and grandpa(was) are full blooded Norwegian. Neither of them can speak the language considering they grew up, rural wisconsin.
However, I am part Native American (dads dad is or was an full blooded indian from Arizona. )
But I've always been interested in my Genealogy and Ancestors, and I finally found out almost everything!
They came here around mid-late 1880s-90s, considering it was my great great grandparents. My Grandma and Grandpa were born in the 1950's.
What about you!?

I’m not from Norway, but I am related to Harald “Bluetooth” Gormsson (yes, the namesake of the wireless technology brand), the Danish king whom subjugated Norway and became their king for a brief period of time. So... close. I’m also related to Charlemagne, King of the Franks and Lombards, and legendary Holy Roman Emperor. This is a second historic trait I apparently share with Ben Affleck; the first being widely proclaimed as the “sexiest man alive”. So a lot of Germanic in my history. Most of the family I know of comes from Germany, Austria, Hungary (maybe), and England. There is allegedly a sliver of Native American in there, but show me a white American who doesn’t claim to have native heritage and I’ll show you a miracle. I ignore any such claims these days.

According to Ancestry DNA, I'm 83% Scots/Irish and 16% Scandinavian (dang those pesky Vikings), as well as a touch of Northern Europe.
My cousin on my mother's side has done extensive genealogical research on that part of the family. I have a lot of historically significant names.
On my father's side I have a single ancestor, William Murdoch - inventor, engineer, and the man who started gas lighting - of historical note.

Mostly Swedish, the rest is around Western Europe. If I understood right, my family only just recently came over here to the States, but unfortunately I'm not able to ask my biological family for clarification. Still pretty cool though, and I think I might pick up Swedish one day when I have the time.

According to Ancestry.com's latest updates:
62% England, Wales, & Northwestern Europe 35% Ireland & Scotland 3% Germanic Europe
Most of my ancestors are from the British Isles, both Celtic and also some tracing to Normans. Norman = "North Man," so there are some that probably were from Norway or Scandinavia, albeit mixed with Bretons for a while then invading England.
There are some nobles mixed in there from England (resulting from said Norman conquest), with that ancestor usually being a 2nd or 3rd son that immigrated to America. One of those was a governor of colonial Virginia, whose younger son became my next ancestor. My family definitely got screwed by Primogeniture inheritance.
Throw in a bit of German, Dutch, and my most recent (apparent) ancestor was from Switzerland in the mid 1800s.
If the Ancestry.com suggested lines are correct, I may also be .5% Algonquin, from an ancestor that was a Jamestown colonist and supposedly married a cousin of Pocahontas.
One of my ancestor's was an Irish guy who was deported, along with his brother, by the forces of "Lord Protector" Cromwell. His father died in the camps set up in Connact, Ireland. My ancestor, his brother, and others were sent to Barbados for a little bit of involuntary servitude. My ancestor escaped or got out of there and wound up in colonial Virginia.

From talking to family I know I am a mix of French and English. Don't know any specifics, I never did one of those dna things. It doesn't really matter in my opinion where my family came from..I'm here now, so I'm Canadian.

My dad is from Germany along with his family, then my mother has said her family originally came from France. Other than that it's all I know. I don't really dig much into it. My one cousin can tell me everything I need to know from my mom's side if need be. She studies it as a hobby.

My paternal grandfather was German, he was a watchmaker. Most of my other ancestors are Welsh, with a little English thrown in here and there. I'm Welsh, born and bred!

One set of my great and grandparents came from Italy and one set came from Hungary (this would have been in the '30s) so I'm second-gen American.

My ancestors came by boat. A fairly decent size one actually, about 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high.

My DNA report says I'm: Germanic Europe: 44% England, Wales, Northern Europe: 38% Ireland, Scotland: 12% France: 2% Eastern Europe, Russia: 2% Norway: 2% I've also traced my ancestry pretty far back, and it includes Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland.

That's cool, haha. Horse thief! I would love to find scoundrels in mine!! I had no idea about Robert the Bruce being part of our lineage, but once I found that, the family tree was a lot easier, since his lineage is well-documented. My great-grandfather is listed as "watch tinker."
