What do you need to do to explain a forum that is not one specific genre? Does your forum cover more than one genre?

I think the key here is categories. For every new genre that's covered on a forum, you'd need to separate them by putting them into different categories. That way, you're not just lumping everything together and getting people confused.
My forum's one specific genre, so this doesn't apply to me. But I'm sure this would to some people.

With my board I am trying something that hasn’t been done before and I’m trying to explain it the best I can.

I think good board descriptions are very helpful especially if the name of each board doesn't immediately identify its topic.
For example, one of the boards on my forum is called "The Darkroom." The description of that board says, "Share all of your favorite pictures, memes, selfies, photo editing, and photography."
The first few boards on your forum have pretty thorough descriptions. However, some people may not understand what they can discuss in "Spiritual Side." To me, I think I can talk about religion. Someone else may wonder if they can discuss other types of spirituality that may even include "darker" beliefs.
Your description of "Film Strip" might confuse some people if they neglect to read your announcement which describes the entire forum. They may wonder what a "writing of a movie" implies. I opened that board and the topic I saw included a video, but not a writing.
I'm in no way trying to be negative. I do like your forum. I'm just trying to point out things that may confuse a guest or a new member.
People who are genuinely interested in joining your forum WILL take the time to read board descriptions.

The topic in filmstrip does have a writing. Anyway, I do appreciate the feedback.
