G'day Gurus,
After a member experience I ran some further tests and it seems that a post made from a Tablet or iPad is immune to the Edit timeout.
I have the Edit timeout set to 20 minutes and it works as expected when a post is made from a desktop PC. At the 20 min mark a 'time's up' message splashes across my screen and the Edit button vanishes, as it should.
Sample posts made by me yesterday with a Tablet retain the Edit button/option for nearly 24 hours and still running. Posts made by a member's iPad have retained the Edit button for months.
As a test I edited my Tablet post (several times) with my desktop PC and that did not restore the Edit timeout so it seems to me that the condition is established in the system at the time of the original post and remains forever. I mean that desktop PCs/laptops must be treated differently to Tablets by Proboards system software (via the plugin) and the Tablet path, or where bits are set, bypass the timeout tests applied by the Plugin.
Any ideas? EDIT: Perhaps my query is redundant as I just found a later version of the plugin that I inherited.
EDIT2: I replaced plugin version 1.1.0 with 1.1.93 and all seems OK
