The Range Planet is a vocal range and singing forum focusing first and foremost on producing personalized research on the kinds of notes popular and classical music vocalists alike hit throughout their discographies. To go with the easily deducible reference to the Daily Planet, I'd like to ask for anyone interested to work with us in providing a 'newspaper'-like theme that would act as the default (and only) theme of the forum.

I'd like the prospective theme to preserve the 'black-on-white' basic text scheme we have now in order to support the color code of our 'range threads' while cracking down on the excessive brightness our forum theme exhibits at the moment. You know that 'aged white' color old newspapers have? That's the kind of thing I'm talking about.
Here's a pretty good reference point of what the home page would ideally look like. I'd really prefer to preserve the clarity of our boards and categories we have right now, and follow a musical motif with an informational streak.
If you're already flustered, don't worry. The end result doesn't even have to be that technical, the thing I'm after is just a tasteful theme that has a personality while being accessible to new and old users alike.
