LOL counter

Hi!



I'm contemplating issuing a 'funniest poster' award or badge, but to do so, I need to find a way to link the LOL button to a counter in the mini profile, like those adding threads, posts and likes.


Maybe a function could be added to the 'Post LOL'  plugin?

So I decided I would write a new plugin instead.  This might not be what you wanted, so no problems if that is the case, it may be of use to others.

I won't mark this request as done until you say so.

From the mini profile image, it looks good, but unfortunately, I'm not able to get it to function, since I didn't find your complete plugin on Github, only files with code strings. I copied them and tried to build a plugin from them, but it doesn't work, so I'm stuck.

'undefined0' shows up in the mini profiles, but doesn't change when I click the 'LOL' button. If I remove that plugin, there is no button to click.

Therefore, I need some competent assistance here, I'm afraid.

Yeah, you can't do that, you need to download it from the releases page that I linked too.  You will see the latest release at the top (1.0.1).

When I try to do that, I only get an error message that I need to download an app first to open the file in, but it doesn't say which, so I won't get far that way.

Maybe we instead can say that the request is done, you place the new plugin in the library and I install it from there the usual way?

Save the file to a folder, don't let it try to open it up.

Can you share your browser and maybe a screen shot?

For me, Firefox will ask what I want to do when I try to download it.

But now, I don't even get a warning mesage when I click on the file. I use Chrome and the screenshot is below.

I'm afraid that you may need to install the plugin for me to make it work.

Tix Mascot From the Releases page that Peter has linked you to, right-click on the FunnyPost.pbp file and select "Save link as..."

Save it somewhere easily accessible, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.

Go to your forum's Admin Panel

Click on Plugins > Manage

Click the "Import Plugin" button

Click the "Choose Plugin File" button

Navigate to and select the FunnyPost.pbp file

Once the plugin has been imported, click the "Finished" button near the bottom right of the dialog window

Thanks a bunch, elli! And to you, too, Peter! Another important lesson in forum building learned today.

It works well now, but with two conditions:
1. The LOL plugin must be disabled.
2. The counter doesn't add the next 'funny post' click immediately - you need to refresh the page first.

1. Yeah, it's a replacement. As I said, if may not be for you, and if that is the case, the request can be left open and hopefully someone else will fill it, or maybe the plugin author will modify it to add in the counter.

2. I knew about that but didn't consider it to be a deal breaker. It's a minor thing that I would consider improving if I was to continue with the plugin. Unfortunately I do requests here as quickly as possible, so they might not be quite what people are after. But you know, better than being ignored and bumping your thread for the next 6 months hoping it gets filled

Peter, I think that there is no reason why our members shouldn't get used to it, especially since I explained to them why I replaced the old plugin with the new one. I'd say we give it a go and hope that it lives up to my expectations. And the refresh page thing is no big deal, so don't rush to redo it for my sake. You've done a great job here and I hope that everybody appreciates it as much as I do.
