default avatar

I know you can set up a default avatar option in the  forum, but it doesn't work unless selected right?

I want a way to add an avatar to the forum if people choose none.  Suggestions?  Cause my brain is pulling a blank on how to do this.

If they choose an avatar, then obviously I want it to show that one.

You will smile when I tell you how easy this is. No coding necessary.

Each theme has its own set of images. You can upload your choice of Default Avatar to any or all themes. The Default Avatar is exactly that. It's the one that will be displayed if the member doesn't create or upload their own avatar.

To change the change the default avatar on a theme, from your Admin Panel, navigate:
Admin Home> Themes> Theme Manager
then hover over the line for the theme you want to alter.
A set of buttons will appear on that line.
Click the images button.

Then you can upload an image under the second heading: Default Theme Avatar

If you wish to use that on more than one theme, you can click the Export button to the right of Template Options near the top of the page. A popup will appear. Tick the checkbox for Default Theme Avatar on the popup, then select the theme to which you wish to send the avatar by using the dropdown, then click the Export Images button.

You can set avatars for the forum that aren't theme-specific as well. Go to Admin > Members > Forum Avatars and you can upload some avatars for your users to use. Once uploaded, you can click on the one you want as the default and set it as the default. Once set, this will be the avatar assigned to all new users until they set their own avatar.

Just giving an alternative option here that works forum-wide, rather than theme-specific, if you wanted to go that route.

Now that you mentioned it, I do recall seeing that early-on when I was navigating around the Admin panel to see what was there. But I had long forgotten it.
