I tried looking through a handful of these requests, and plugins, but I didn't seem to find something for this. I apologize in advance if it's been asked/made already.
Very similar to putting a password on boards and subs, I was wondering if it were possible to password-protect only the thread inside a board with a password (or even using permissions if a password isn't possible)
I'll be hosting a murder mystery game sometime soon, and I wanted to only password-protect threads instead of entire boards, so when the players get the correct answer to the puzzles, they can input the password and view/post in the thread. I didn't want to have 1 thread per 1 sub-board, since I can only put a password on the boards right now.
Here's an example layout:
This way, I can put a password on the Rooms (Threads), instead of needing to make a sub-sub-board for each room
EDIT: I should probably mention that I'm looking for a plug-in for this, but my first inquire is if it's even possible to make a plug-in for this, or if this is already a feature?

Any kind of restrictions created through plugin (javascript) can be easily defeated mainly because it runs in the user's browser after Proboards sends that user the page. Because of this plugins (javascript) are better employed to embellish, not for anything mission critical that could fail and affect the underlying functionality. It is best to stick to permissions supplied by Proboards itself when looking to restrict user option but Proboards offers no password verification at the thread level. What I would suggest however is to look into a private board where users (except designated staff) will only be able to see, modify, and reply only to threads they themselves created within that private board. Threads created by others would be invisible and inaccessible to them, they would not know other threads exist beside their own in that board. Settings - Password - Password protect a board. Access to the board is granted when the correct password is entered.
- Redirect URL - If a redirect URL is provided, users that click the board will be redirected to the specified URL.
- Show Announcements - Choose whether or not forum-wide announcement threads will display at the top of this forum.
- Disable Post Counts - If enabled, a user's post count will not increase when a post is made in this board.
- Enable Falling - Threads made in boards with falling enabled will not be bumped to the top of the thread listing when replied to.
- Hidden Board - Hides the board from everyone including the admin, unless they know the URL.
- Private Board - If enabled, regular members will only be able to view threads that they've created on the board. Any threads created by other members in the same board will not be visible or accessible.
