Disable/Remove Nest Quoting

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone can help. My members are having problems with the nesting quotes and we'd like it disabled. Following a quick google I found a code that needs to be placed in the Global Header, but it sadly does nothing.

Does anyone have anything more recent that I could paste into the CSS perhaps, and eliminate the quote nesting in replies? Ideally all we want is the ability to quote ONE post.

No, unfortunately not. That's what I pasted into the Global Header, but it's had no effect.

I think I went through just about every post on your forum that had a quote in it and I couldn't find any instance of visible nested quotes. Can you link to an example of a post where it's not working?

If you're referring to the posting page the code is never going to work there because the contents of the Preview tab are located within an iframe which the browser regards as a different page. But as far as posts that have already been made are concerned everything looks good there to me.

Thanks for the quick response.

So there are no nested quotes on any of the posts because we've been tidying them up in the BBCode tab before posting. Basically I just want to be able to have the quote system one user deep.

So here, for example:


I've hit quote on Thea's post, who had previously included a quote from Matthew Harmon's post. I only want to quote Thea in my post, is this possible to have automatically?

As mentioned in the previous post it won't work on the posting page because the iframe it uses to display the post you're writing is regarded as a separate page. CSS does not extend to elements contained within iframes.

You could hide nesting quotes with CCS after the post is submitted, though, if that helps?

It does actually, we can just ignore the quote nest in preview and post without having to edit constantly. For this, the Global Header code works!

:D glad to hear it! I don't like nested quotes either lol, so I always hide everything but the most recent.
