The year is 2020. The world is in pandemonium as one month ago, GHNv-20 was confirmed, five months after the beginning of norovirus season. The number of the infected are in the higher hundred thousand, and the death toll is at an estimated 100,000, with about eighty percent of the rest of the population experiencing mild to moderate illnesses connected to the S. pyogenes bacteria.

Of course, news coverage of the virus is constant, but reports conflict on the actual number of people affected. No one knows the whole accurate truth, nor can scientists confirm how the virus triggers the bacterial infection, nor can governments begin distributing the first round of Advotex without confirmation that the drug actually works as intended.

The fear of the unknown has caused mass hysteria and panic.

Supermarket shelves are empty, factories are struggling to keep up with demand while also dealing with staff shortages caused by the virus, and most of the world has come to a standstill.

In an attempt to provide a semblance of safety and control, military personnel patrol the streets, even here in Lethford City, and the police force is trying to keep up with the rising street violence, assault, and theft. Civilians have been advised to quarantine themselves at home in an effort to keep as much of the virus contained. The world is waiting with bated breath for what comes next.
