I started a mental health forum to create a community where people would feel welcomed to share their stories and so we as a community could help each other. One thing I need advice on is categories. I was wondering if I should do a general category for people to share their stories or should I have subcategories for everything. The answer is not obvious to me because some people don't know what the word is for what they are going through and having specific categories might make them hesitant to share. Maybe? Or am I wrong. Hi, I would start with just a few categories.
I also have my own mental health forum and that's how I started.
Good luck with it.

My suggestion for every forum is to start small and then expand as necessary. If you have too many boards upfront, your forum will look inactive. You currently have 12 boards and I wouldn't add more for now. Also, take suggestions from your members. Don't be afraid to make changes and don't take criticism personally. You may receive a lot of advice in both directions. You are off to a great start and I want to wish you the best of luck.
