Hide text plugin help

Hey there.  I was curious if Todge wouldn't mind helping me on the plugin linked in the past?

Can't seem to contact him via messenger.

It's so imperative to have this integrated into my forums. It works, but wondered if this can be added:

GOAL: Ideally be able to see the newest text by replying after it, though. Instead of being able to reply and see all of the text. Maybe a rate-and-reply-to-see option [if necessary]? This could, in essence, be gamified [Mortal Kombat level using multiple choice] more interactively than dice rollers for an RP forum.

Adding all of those options would be possible, apart from one, but would be a huge undertaking.. But it seems to me that a couple of them are duplicated. Isn't the 4th and the 13th options the same? As well as the 10th and 12th?

As for the game thread you posted, I can't get my head around that. I understand that you want certain text to be displayed if certain phrases/quotes are posted, but even if I could get that to work, it would only work on the posts that are on the same page as the quote, as plugins can only read content from the page being displayed, it would be impossible to effect one page according to what is displayed on another.

EDIT: Op. My apologies, never mind on the link above. It needs more work than I initially was considering.

I'm fine with just hide text + reply to see certain post items. That way it can keep the cycle going on what's hidden each time someone wants to see the next hidden item.

You would like to have some content hidden within a post, and have it displayed only if someone replies in that thread?

Only if someone likes and reply to the post. That way each post is hidden, even if the person who wants to see the new post has already replied to the thread earlier.

That way they'll have to like and reply again to see the newer content.

After testing, I came to realize there's a loophole. T.T Don't know why I didn't know of it sooner.

A person can simply reply and like every new post and see the hidden content. Breaking the game.

EDIT: Probably be too much to ask if it can lock until someone post a new post. But don't know if it's even possible. Instead of like or even a reply, could this instead be clicking a react icon within the post? And have icons customizable? Kind of like seen here: link [+proboards reactions] with username.

That way, if we have customizable icons, we can actually build a multiple choice setup and other various methods in a gamified system.

Can't believe I didn't realize this big loophole lol. Easily cheatable. Really do apologize on that.

How can having a dedicated button to click to view the hidden content be any different than having to click the like button?

My apologies. Basically, with custom reaction icons [showing username] + hidden content, you essentially have a plethora of avenues to go with in an RP System.

Reaction Setup:
-For example, the combat system [or even any rped gaming system] has 3 reactions to represent 3 movements. 
--Reaction 1 [smiley face], reaction 2 [angry face], reaction 3 [sad face]
----*The RP rules may further define what these 3 reactions actually translate into. But this is just an example.

Example:
-Player 1 hides the content, and what they have hidden is a smiley face.

-Player 2 has to guess which of the 3 reactions player 1 is hiding. 
-Player 2 reacts with an angry face!

As soon as Player 2 refreshes the page, they get to see the hidden content.
-Player 2 must then reply with fairness in mind, receiving damage/loss for guessing wrong in this guessing game.
[this little bit alone nullifies powerplaying/godmodding]

Below are the possibilities [don't really need to read, but these are the potentials of having this plugin!]

Multiplayer flexibility:
By being able to see the user's name popup also, everyone reading is aware that "they" made the reaction. This allows another player, who might also be going against Player 1 to now take action and react as well. But because people might metagame in PMs in a multiplayer, it would be best to have one post dedicated to each opponent. And by making it publically known how many people reacted, can be punishable if someone did metagame. Like most RPs, but more evidently noticeable. However, the original like button + reply plugin to see hidden content, I realized in the test, would actually hack into multiplayer capabilities in many ways. 


Variability:
With more than 3 reactions though, you can either add more creativeness to that combat system, or have much more variability to nuanced systems [like board games, etc, in the same RP! Each game having specified reaction icons.] With something so simple, an admin can make what was once a complex RP system into something very basic as a guessing game with mere reaction icons. This lessening of complexity can attract people who didn't like RP systems/stats to dabble a bit into something both fun and non-complicated. Optimization would be key here.

I'm sorry if these sound like silly questions, but for me to even attempt to create what you want I need to know exactly what that is, otherwise we will end up going over and over it again with constant additions and amendments.

Yeah, but I'd probably just make it a rule to prevent anyone else from reacting. However, the way the original reaction plugin is setup I noticed that the pop up doesn't reveal the username. Just the icon's name from the admin panel. It would be beyond helpful to have that capability implemented to make metagaming impossible.

Yup. Only those who react can see the hidden content [those who are not in the RP reacting will get a warning/punishment. Then banishment for abuse since they can, at any time, send a PM to the user on what reaction to choose].

The person responding to what's happening must roleplay what really happened after viewing the hidden content for the sake of the audience's understanding. Since they cannot see what's in there.

From there, they read the hidden content, and click reply on their own accord. Since some people might want to take some time to do something else or ponder a bit on what to do next in their upcoming post. No rush.

Members don't get to see the hidden content. However, if the tagging system does work, if there's a way to make an option allowing it to be visible only when tagged person replies, then I'm cool with that. But I'm just as fine without the complexity. But do see it as a nice option if anyone else has an interest in having that implemented.

I get that this is just an example, but do you need the plugin to offer a choice of possible reactions when the poster clicks the button?

And I'm still a little vague about what exactly happens..

Player 2 clicks the action button (for want of a better term).. Then what? It sounds like they do not see the hidden content until they have made a choice of sorts, and that's where I get lost. How do they know what they know what options they can choose from? And what happens after they choose? How do they then see the hidden content? Click another button?

Again I apologise.. Roll Playing games are not my thing, I have tried in the past to create an RPG type plugin and gave it up pretty quickly as it became more and more complex as I tried to offer dedicated reply options etc. I abandoned that as a bad idea some time ago...
