Michael I logged into the forum today (I haven't been on for a few days & could see that 2 bookmarked threads had been updated (new on recent threads). However I didn't get any email notifications (now set to smart) so back to where I started on this issue - no smart email notifications. These are the two threads that were updated yourpet.boards.net/post/161025/thread on 19 June at 10:23 yourpet.boards.net/thread/4558/feline-snapshot-day?page=180&scrollTo=160989 on 17 June with 2 posts 9:10 & 10:15 & 2 on 19 June at 9:30 & 11:11 When I checked my profile notifications (bubble showed 6 but only 1 for a bookmarked thread) I saw one had a notification but the other didn't. That notification was for yourpet.boards.net/thread/4558/feline-snapshot-day?page=180&scrollTo=160989 which was made on 17 June at 9:10 but no subsequent notifications for the other 3 posts Looking at my activity my last activity was shown as 17 June at 01:23. So only 1 profile notification as opposed to 4 makes sense. However I should have had a profile notification for the other thread. I can't see any reason why that one is missing. I've had no profile notifications since 17 Jun at 9:55 but don't know if I should have had any other type although with a brief scan of updated threads I don't think there should be any more that the bookmarked thread that is definitely missing.

Hi,
Try marking that thread as new, then view the thread to clear the new status. It could simply be that the viewing of that thread needs to be reset.
Have you tried setting instant notifications instead of smart?

Thanks Michael I'll give that a try. However as I posted eralier in the this thread instant worked fine. Additionally could you clarify what participated in a thread covers as regards notifications as I didn't get any notification (profile or email) for your post on this thread & that is what is set for this forum (tick for profile & smart for email). The reason I ask is that I assume participation includes someone (other than myself) posting in any thread I have posted in even if its in a thread I created rather than just referring in someone else's thread in which I had replied. Hope that makes sense Toni

Hi,
Participated includes your last 30 replies. So if you've replied to only one thread in your last 30 posts, you will have only one participated thread. If you posted in 30 threads, once each, then you would have 30 different participated threads. In this manner older threads are allowed to naturally drop off your participated list.

Thanks Michael. Then this thread should be a participated thread for me as I've only posted in this one for a while. I am not getting either form of notification & I've been logged out of the support forum since my last post so I believe I should have got profile notification & an email when you posted that last post. At least that's how I understand the tick & smart against participated threads in my profile. However thinking about your wording of last 30 replies does that literally mean replies I make to a thread someone else created or would it include the initial post of a new thread I create and/or any subsequent replies I make in that thread. i.e. like this thread.

Hi,
Participated is a separate dialogue (the Participated box) and does not produce a profile notification. "Smart" emails will only send you one email for the thread, and there is no guarantee that it will be sent immediately. If you want regular emails "Instant" is the only setting you can really use.
We do have plans to improve the consistency of Smart emails in v6.

Thanks Michael. I'd completely forgotten the participated box! That is showing New. Glad to hear the smart option is going to be reviewed I'll revert to instant for the yourpet forum Thanks for all your help.

Is anyone familiar with EmailInDetal software? Sorry, this isn't really the place for this type of question as we only offer technical support for the ProBoards software. However you may create a thread on our General Talk board and perhaps another member (or members) will be able to assist you.
