Members can see one another's email addresses!

Help please.

All members of the group can view one another's email addresses under the member profile tab. They've changed privacy settings and I've replaced the HTML script for email with:

{if $[user.email] && $[current_user.is_staff]}

<td class="headings">Email:</td>

<td>$[user.email]</td>

</tr>

To no avail.

Any suggestions?

When you edit your privacy settings, these are your options:
1. Share with everyone.
2. Share with registered users.
3. Share with friends and staff.
4. Share with staff only.


Let the members know that they can edit their privacy settings and select whichever option makes them feel most comfortable.


Profile > Edit Profile > Privacy Tab

From your Admin panel, navigate:
Admin Home> Members> Member Groups

For the listing of group to which you are referring, inspect the Staff column. The dropdown setting of Yes will allow members of that group to view email addresses on ALL member profiles.

Be very careful when you create groups so you don't allow the members of the group to have powers they should not have.

Also should note ..

Anything used in a plugin, will not work in "mobile" mode. I have several plugins in place, like a post auto locking 20 minutes after it goes up .. this works awesome in desktop mode, but switch to mobile and you can still edit.

Plugins don't work on mobile mode currently. Be mindful of that

Just to note - the coding above does not look like plugin coding. The above coding looks like template coding. So, your reference to plugins is ... confusing.

First off, what "group" are you referring to? Is this a member group you created?

Second, any template changes do not affect those accessing the site with a mobile device (that uses the mobile version by default).

Third, are you sure members can view other members' email addresses?  As the admin (creator) of the forum, you will be able to see this information. This doesn't mean that other members will.
