Are you outside the usa? Most people in the usa will never experience any free care. Maybe that's why Friends said what they did.

Still, the clause cited in the earlier post is there and very real in the American Counseling Association's Ethics. To not try to help someone simply due to monetary gain is an ethical violation. They can be reported and punished for doing this. It is a type of neglect.
But...as for location...would like to keep that private.
This bunny is really aware that United States is terrible with providing Health Care, especially making a capitalist gain out of it even when there is clearly clauses that say we must help one way or another even if it is free, adjustable due to circumstance, or making payment plans to make adjustments for individuals who have difficulty with money.
That is why it is important to know your right and call these people on it when they do this. It keeps people who are searching for Mental Health care from getting it. This is one of the things this bunny consistently touches on when it comes to making sure people who run across these cases in real life or forum know since someone having a mental collapse and have no way of going about the system is, for words, not cool.

That was with discount. It is hard to understand their system.

That was with discount. It is hard to understand their system. This has piqued the bunny's interest. Okay, there is a range of things that could have happened there (none of them justifiable). If we are talking about Medical (which this bunny has limited experience in), then possibly they totaled the person's time in the hospital for an issue that was probably not that serious. It is not uncommon to hear about someone eating up the clock in order to bill them. This bunny has punished workers for doing that to clients in session for billing them for nonsense like sitting around for Three hours and handling jobs that were not theirs (transporting them in cars and taking a client's children to the park and doing nothing when they should have been taking care of the mental health and addressing serious issues). There ARE business that do not do this. As a client/patient, it is your right to be noted about what is being charged to you and why. So, before signing paperwork, be sure to read the fine line. As noted before, in Mental Health, this is noted in our "Declaration Statement." Now, if it was a Mental Health issue, to bill for something as long as 12 Hours is ridiculous! This bunny can literally not think of any reason to bill for that long. Even a Crisis situation (which involves a life at risk) is solved within 2 hours usually, so there is no excuse for that. It sounds as if your friend might have run into someone with scrupulous practices. This is not uncommon as this bunny has had a situation where it required me to pull their National Provider Identification Number (NPI Number for short). NOTE: Everyone who works in the health field, including myself should have these, so be sure to ask for it if you believe you received questionable service. It is scary to know that happened to you, and this bunny is so sorry! Please, be aware that there are resources to use. One is the Department of Health and Human services when it comes to investigating these matters. Fraudulent billing is actually something that is quite intolerable, and Federal Government does not take kindly to bodies that do this.
