Would it be possible to create a plugin to allow a member to choose a Creative Commons license for material they post? That would be very helpful and avoid each member from having to invent their own personal usage disclaimer statements every time they post something that they wish to restrict the usage of.

I am not a plugin creator, so I can't personally fill this, but it's totally possible. I don't think it would need to use a key either since it could be made to just append the license type to the post body. For the person who would fill this, though, you may want to let them know some additional details: - a link to the creative commons license types - how would this appear in a post? do you just want the license image or do you want additional text? where in the post would this appear? how would this be styled? - how would this look like when creating / editing a post? - what plug-ins do you use that affect posts? that might be important to prevent any conflicts.

You may also want to check out the Posting Templates plugin to see if that will do what you want.
