PlugIn Doesnt Work. Help!

Well, I thought that might get the attention of a few, and probably an angry one!

I thought that there used to be a code chat area but I couldn't find it. Please feel free to move this if it bothers people.

Im considering a comeback and a remake of some plugins over the soon coming winter months and I was wondering who is still about from the old days! Peter , Chris , Wormopolis, Todge, Kami, RADesign etc etc

I havent done any coding for years but would like to see if the community is still here and ask for a helping hand if needed. ES6 has arrived, the libraries seem to have gone, is there a new thingy?

Anyway, Hope all those people I knew from the old days are all healthy,happy and still coding. And a big hello to some of the new names I see floating about!

Glad to meet you! I've enjoyed the fruits of your labor, particularly the IP Look Up Buttons plugin. I really wish that had been editable but Chris has the patience of a saint and walked me through creating a similar plugin.

With the exception of RADesign, all the people you mentioned have been around recently. Wormopolis had taken a long break but reappeared a few months ago. Among others, Bennett 🚀, elli, and Lynx have done some nice work lately. As for me, I'm a beginner with JS so I haven't contributed much in plugins but I've been able to help a few people with some layout template mods and CSS.

Sadly, Virgil Sovereign hasn't been active for quite a while.

There are always people that drop out for a while and those that never return. It's the nature of forums, whether it be coding, posting or design. You just have to accept that is what happens.

Editable plugins? Yes , in hindsight I should have made them editable. All of them.   Some were simple but some took a lot of time and I think that at the time you didnt want someone ripping off your code and changing 3 lines and claiming it.   The IP lookup was quite short and Im sure Chris spent a good 10 minutes rewriting it!

I did an accepted post plugin which took a lot of time ( similar to stack overflow ) and that is the one that is begging me to come back and recode!

Yeah, I would imagine some people would make a minor change to a plugin and claim it as their own. Personally, I have no qualms about using someone else's work as a starting point and building on it. But I ask permission and specifically acknowledge the original writer, in the comments.

I'm sure Chris could have made short work of it. But he talked a n00b through all the steps, so it took days: support.proboards.com/thread/658813/writing-conditional-based-current-users and that became: support.proboards.com/thread/658781/proxy-test

PEBBLE WELCOME BACK

There was a coding chat area (Programming Discussion) back in v4/4.5 but it was removed  I tried to ask for it back but it turned into coding help which as you can see is really just a catch all for people who need help with their forums. But this is probably the best place for this thread as a whole.

Not really sure why I was tagged. Most of my plugins could probably have been done as template mods, which some were originally. I only made them into plugins to make it easier to change some settings, rather than having to dig through code.

Pebble, check IOD out. Alot of your links fail now, and codes/plug in updates would be appreciated.

I like a few you have and want to use them.
