Why do some plugins work on some browsers but not on others?
This probably has either a short answer or a long one.
One of my plugins (which isnโt supported, I donโt think) works with Firefox but not with Safari. Itโs the poker plugin. In Safari, it just shows five broken image icons (itโs those boxes indicating your image canโt load). But I suspect this is a universal issue with many many plugins.

This is a really open-ended question because there are multiple factors -- sometimes singular, sometimes a combination -- that could affect a plugin's cross compatibility. Some reasons (but by no means a comprehensive one) are: the browser doesn't natively support the plugin's functionality, the browser is not up to date, the plugin has not been updated to accommodate for the browser's updates, the plugin is using outdated technology that the browser no longer supports. For the case of the poker plugin, the safari issue is actually a known thing as per the opening post of the support thread for it: The last update was also 5 years ago. It's likely that if this plugin isn't deprecated in other browsers right now, unless Pastuleo returns to update for modern browsers / when v6 is released, this plugin will eventually become unusable anywhere.

Well, my poker plugin which didnโt work with Safari before suddenly worked with Safari this morning. I know I didnโt do a thing different.

Well, my poker plugin which didnโt work with Safari before suddenly worked with Safari this morning. I know I didnโt do a thing different. It could be an intermittent issue. The thread above only states the possibility of a safari conflict, which implies that the bug isn't 100% reproducible.

I just realized after clicking on your link that the plugin you referenced is not the same as the plugin I installed. I don't have the monetary system plugin so I didn't download/install the poker game you referenced. Instead, I downloaded and installed something Todge recommended in the thread:
I'm not sure if your referenced poker plugin is the same as the one Todge recommended.

I'm using my own images which I loaded into WordPress. (WordPress was the only hosting site I could find -- and I looked at about a dozen -- that kept the exact filename that I uploaded. All other hosting sites hashed out a new filename for each image, with no ability to rename them.)

It's hard for me to diagnose without anything to go off of.

Well, I tried it again on Safari (both desktop and iPad) and it works. I don't know why it didn't work the first time. My guess is that it had something to do with the WordPress server at the time I played it on Safari.

My guess is that it had something to do with the WordPress server at the time I played it on Safari. You are probably correct.. Nine times out of ten, if you see broken image icons, it's because the browser cannot gain access to those images. This could be because you either entered the info incorrectly in the plugins' settings, or an issue with the image host. As the plugin worked for you when using other browsers, it had to be the later. Now that Safari has managed to get those images, the chances are that you'll not have this issue again.

I have not tested this with other browsers. I may have to make a trip to the library just so that I could test it on Microsoft IE on a PC. It would be the first time in, like, 10 years I've been to the library.
LOL!
