Boards And Rec: A forum dedicated to anything!

Hi.

I would like some reviews on my site, called the Boards And Rec. Any improvements that you want me to do then please say so! We're also gonna insert a sidebar in the next couple of days, so please review that as well!

OK guys, I'm going to be honest here. I want to revamp the forum big time because It just doesn't seem right. So, by January 2021 this forum will have a new name and design.

Just some things I noticed on a casual peruse of the forum. Keep in mind, I am not any kind of theme creator or designer, and these are just my opinions.

1. The navbar and category title bars: the white on yellow is hard on the eyes. Maybe darken the yellow so the white shows better or darken the white so it shows better on the yellow.

2. Hovering over a board name: the white hover background color hides the white text for the board name and its description. Many a time I had to mouseout to double check what board I was clicking on.

3. Terminology: I'm seeing "forum" and "board" used improperly/interchanged in some places. While some hosts may do that, it's usually the following hierarchy here on PB:

- Forum (the whole thing)
--- Category (contains Boards)
----- Boards (contains Sub-Boards and Threads {Thread List})
------- Threads (contain Posts)

4. Your forum rules:

- #1: You reference your forum's T&C - yet, I could not find those.
- #4: You may want to define "sockpuppet", as some people may not know its meaning (yes, they could Google it - but that takes them away from your forum)
- Numbering: your numbers go: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 34. What happened to #'s 7 through 33, or is that just simply a typo?

5. Delete or hide (put into a Staff-Only board) the thread that came by default when the forum was created. Even though you have it locked and falling, I don't really see the need to keep it - or, at least, to keep it in the public's eye.

6. Spam Vault board: This board should really be hidden from non-Staff. What's the sense in moving spam posts there? They would still be on display, as it were. I'd personally hide that board from non-Staff, as my members don't need to see those (and it clutters the forum for regular members, imho).


Again, I'm no professional. These are just things that caught my attention on a casual peruse.

1: I'll darken the yellow a bit. (Done!)
2: It's a problem that I'm trying to solve, once I can solve it, it will be better. (Done!)
3: I've reworded to match the structure of the forum: I noticed that a board was called Forum, and vice versa. (Done!)
4: I'm referring to the Proboards T&C's and the forum T&C's don't exist, so gonna reword it. Gonna refer sockpuppet in more info. It's a weird naming rule, but I did it because Rules 6 and 34 are rules on some other forums I regular. I'm however gonna change rule 34 to rule 7. (Done!)
5: It will be moved to the moderator lounge, where it will be hidden out of view. (Done!)
6: The spam thread was all a mistake, I'm gonna delete it altogether. (Done!)

1. The white still is a bit hard to read on the yellow, but it is better. It may also be my screen settings, so if it looks good on your end, I wouldn't worry about what I see.
2. The hover is much better!
3. A couple of places I'm still seeing the interchange:
- News Feed: is using "board" instead of "forum"
- Media Discussion board: description has "forum" instead of "board"

I've removed the news update bit altogether, as it was outdated, and replaced forum with board for Media discussion.
