- Has the pandemic lead to a spike in forum activity?
- Are forums still a go to for roleplaying or has other mediums become easier to use?
- As you've gotten older is roleplaying still interesting or has something else taken up your interest?
I've been wondering about these three things for months, the last one a lot longer. Even though I think the pandemic would lead to forums being super active, at the same time people have a lot more to worry about than writing stories. And to me, forums have been on a slight decline, but I think thats just my perception. I know some people that legit just moved on to just playing games more rather than RP. In any case, writing is something I've always loved to do and I miss the feel of community and coming up with ideas together alongside epic battles. Just thought I'd get some opinions/ideas/concerns on the matter. And just gonna leave it at that to keep this short.

1: Of course! More people are on forums, leading to a spike in some of the forums I regular 2: I think forums are still the way to go when doing Roleplaying, however, video game RP's are nearly as popular as forum RP's. 3: Sadly, yes. I just board now instead of Roleplay

I hope more people respond so I can paint a better picture of this, but generally I think people are too busy with irl or would rather just play games on steam or something than engage in rping. Really cool, the places you frequent has an increase, whether it be activity or new people.

It seems to me that the decline the forums have had is due to Facebook and other social media. Give me forums over those any day of the year; I’ve been posting on them for 16 years (2004 was my first). It’s a habit I can’t break easy. RP theme proboards always seem to be among the most popular & from what I’ve noticed, they’re still pretty big and ready for a revival spike in activity, along with the rest of forums.

RP theme proboards always seem to be among the most popular & from what I’ve noticed, they’re still pretty big and ready for a revival spike in activity, along with the rest of forums. Popularity doesn't always mean users will join I've seen successful forums that has over 10k users most not rps. The issue is imo probards gives everyone the chance to have a successful opportunity to be an owner of a message board which there is nothing wrong with. Another issues i honestly am seeing the GDR board isn't as fuffling as it use to be late 2006 you could request a banner or image and have it done within the day now it's the waiting game. I myself suggested a badic code for age restriction content no nudity of course but for adult beverages. Haven't seen it fuffiled yet. Going back above, theres nothing wrong with letting everyone make a website but not everyone can be successful. It's like a music career you can do it but theres a slim chance you'll go diamond. In all reality sad to say but money is key which not all of us have. You'll need to higher coders, graphic designs and pay to advertise your forums via adsense or which ever platform. You may grab a few via affiliate codes. I dunno maybe I'm not paying much attention. I only see a few staff members posting in GT now days. Granted most staff are busy working on the next version which is understandable. Just doesnt feel the same as it use to to me. Regardless of what category of a forum you make.

It's just something I have always seen here on PB Support; a crapload of RP forums being advertised. Not all of them are active.
You're definitely right about the forums not being like they were in the 2000's. I recently looked at the Support forums through The Internet Archive because I was curious to see how it was before I joined. This place was SUPER active in 2004. I defnitely have no expectations of things returning to that, but as an optimist, I think things can spike up from what they are right now.
