I was prompted to perform the latest update for Windows 10, and I did so.

After more than 10 minutes of 'configuring' the update, my computer automatically restarted. And I breathed a sigh of relief, until ...

The process of 'working on' the update began. That took over an HOUR to complete.

I've haven't even restarted my laptop for 24 days straight, and haven't closed edge (which also needs an update) in 14 days. The last time I did an update that extensive was in August, which took 2 hours to complete, so I'm delaying it as long as this laptop can take it. But yeah, 10 is really bad at doing updates quickly.

I also run 7, XP, 2000 and 95 on other computers, and while 7 and 2000 took 30 minutes to update, XP took 12 hours to update (though that was 200 separate updates). 95 I rarely updated

Threads like this make me remember that my behavior of turning my computer off at the end of the day is apparently unusual. It does help to explain why Windows Update used to be so annoying, though. I'd always wonder, "Why does it keep bothering me to restart when it can just install the updates when I turn my computer off tonight?"
