I'm going to try and cook a full dinner for us. I've never cooked a turkey before, so we'll see how that goes. I have no problem with sides and pies, so if the turkey is wrong, at least there will be something tasty. 😂 This is something worthy of research. You can probably cook a turkey and present a good (and healthy) product by just using common sense. But a bit of knowledge can make the difference between good and great. There are LOTS of steps involved so planning ahead is crucial. Selecting the right-sized bird. Allowing enough time to thaw (if frozen) Preparation and brining or not. Basting or not basting. Monitoring internal temperature. Protecting the white meat so it doesn't over-cook. Resting. Presentation (carving). Unless you have mad knife-skills (personally I don't) you might find it more appropriate to carve the turkey in the kitchen then present it to your guests pre-carved at the dining table. Although there's a tradition to carve the turkey at the table, that can be clumsy and messy if you don't have experience. Here's a link to a starting point that include many of the factors you'll want to consider and plan for: www.chatelaine.com/food/kitchen-tips/cooking-turkey-perfectly/And here's a quick video on carving: Well, here's Food Theory's take on how to cook a turkey:

Well, here's Food Theory's take on how to cook a turkey: I aborted watching that after less than a minute. I'm guessing there might be 5% of the time used to convey useful information. Or maybe the entire video was created just so the narrator could hear himself talk. DK,DC.

At this point after hearing what my "lovely" governor restricted it may be no go this year. We are going to family's house. Everyone that lives around me are doing the same. More of a protest. That's what I'm doing too, but I still feel uncomfortable doing it. I don't know if I've become a sheeple(lol) or have been channeling my inner 'adult'. You know what I mean-the inner voice that tells you what you're doing may not be a perfectly good idea. *sigh* How I hate being an adult!

I usually don't do much for Thanksgiving and this year I have no plans whatsoever. I'm on call for the hospitals so will round on the newborns and then have a quiet, holiday weekend with the kitties. I am staying away from any gatherings because the last thing I need is to be the super spreader after the holiday and risk making my preemie babies and other, fragile patients sick.

It's my husband and me. I made several dishes last night and made 3 more this morning. My sugar free pecan pie came out delicious and will keep this recipe. My husband was thoroughly surprised at how good it was. I also look forward to the "National Dog Show" which is on NBC every "Thanksgiving." The Scottish Deerhound" won Best In Show. Usually I pick the winner, but I didn't today. Claire won and she's just about perfection comparing to her own breed.

Well, my brothers and their family are here, and they are having dinner at my house. We have to be careful, though. A few weeks ago, they got sick with COVID-19, but after a few days they got all better. Now we're wearing masks because we're getting a small gathering of 9 (as 10 is the max limit): my two brothers, one girlfriend, and my brother's wife and two daughters. Hope we're all safe and careful.
