I was wondering if, anyone else is getting this? The spammers are using my phone to text me! Most of the spammers are
hot mail. One was an exception an outlook. when they text me it has their emails followed by a lilbittyurl link! which of course no way would I click on it.
I started getting these a week after I almost got scammed and they had even put a pin on my phone! I done a factory restore. I got in my phone but still getting these text. It looks like I'm doing group texting. I just change my # Hate to getting a new one already. They are very annoying, to think that they can do this. I even put a block on the # no! didn't work! I gone to one at&t store they saw one person with the problem. I will go to a larger store to see if they know what to do.
Anyone else get these kind of text?

A factory restore doesn't prevent people from texting you. You can receive spam texts the way you receive spam emails. Changing your # may or may not change anything because the spam texts go out to tons of people at the same time. You can keep blocking #s or you can set up different filters and/or use a different texting app so that only contacts can text you. I received some election spam texts before the election, but they all stopped right after the election.

Why did you factory reset? That has no effect on who can text you. You can block or maybe try use do not disturb filters.

I don't get texts like that. And all of the spam texting I did get suddenly stopped after the election.

It sounds like the spammer sent a group text to a bunch of numbers, one of which was yours.
What brought you to the conclusion that your number was being used? Caller IDs can be spoofed. I can technically call you "from" your number, but I'm not actually using your number.

A few years ago the "spoofing" happened to me as well. I was getting replies to texts I never sent. I didn't know much about it at the time and called my service carrier about it. They explained it all to me. Thing was, it was a "new" number that I had changed fairly recently. The rep explained that numbers can be recycled and that may have contributed to the issue since that number was already out in circulation from previously being used.
They were cool about it and spent a great deal of time with me allowing me to select a new number (no charge) from a new block of unused numbers they had recently obtained. Problem solved.
Last couple years I have gotten the occasional one off random spam text, but I just block the sending number. Think that just goes with the territory of using your phone, or the spammers just putting in a series of numbers hoping to hit active numbers.
