Both of my 80+yr old parents have COVID.

You know, this year can take a long walk off of a short pier. 

My parents are in Assisted Living in Las Vegas and now both of them have COVID. My mom's still there, but my dad's been transferred to a hospital.

Turns out, the staff WEREN'T WEARING MASKS at the assisted living place, nor were they requiring visitors (delivery services, etc.) to wear masks. I am so mad I could chew nails. 7 of the staff have tested positive!! This is a healthcare facility. Why were they not requiring masks?!!?!?!?

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope your parents get great care and that they can recover.

I am surprised that they aren't wearing masks, although part of me isn't surprised. I was just reading about COVID fatigue today and how sometimes people just stop caring without realizing the damage they are doing. Not an excuse at all, especially in the situation where they are caring for the elderly, but apparently it's happening more and more.

I, too, would be furious with the care facility. It is not acceptable to allow staff to care for elderly residents without proper PPE!

That's outrageous, Marian. This far into this thing they should have no excuses. Sorry your parents and you are having to go through that.

That’s not good. Care homes had a lot of problems in the beginning, with inadequate training and PPE, but there’s no excuse at this stage. I hope they recover quickly.

You know I was interviewing at a elderly home and noticed the amount of people not wearing masks on the job also. Sad.

I'm so sorry to hear this. What a terrible state of affairs.    The care home is very liable for their actions, that's for sure. 

I hope your parents make a complete and rapid recovery. Will keep them in my thoughts and prayers. *hugs*

I'm sorry to hear this. All I can do  is to keep them and you in my heart and keep my fingers crossed for you all. I cannot believe that they weren't making anyone wear masks. I know that a few states are a lot more lax than others, but this is ridiculous. My mom is also in a nursing home and I haven't been able to see here since last February.  Now I find out that a lot of the staff is showing positive results. At least the home is honest with me (I hope). but everytime I see there number on my phone or get an e-mail from them I worry.
