Possible to Link to Recent Threads for Different Categories?

I know I can add a custom link to the navigation bar that will take users to the recently added threads page, but is it possible to link to recently added threads of only certain categories? Specifically, I would like a link to the recently added threads of all categories but two, and for the two excerpt, I would like to have a separate link.

Yes, but there is a limitation involved in the method I know of.

To get the URL for the link, click search then select the Categories (or boards) you wish to include. Then click the radio button to the left of display results as threads and click the Search button on the bottom right of the page.

For instance, on the Support Forum if we choose the
Tech Support
ProBoards Development
and
Coding, Development and Design
categories, and display results as threads, then click the Search button, the URL that will appear in the browser address bar will look like this:

support.proboards.com/search/results?where_category=4%2C32%2C16&captcha_id=captcha_search&who_only_made_by=0&display_as=1&search=Search

That link will achieve the desired output for any logged-in member.

However, guests will see the Search page with the selections pre-entered. They'll need to click the Search button and will then be presented with a captcha.

The NEW indicates there is at least one reply in the thread that you haven't yet read while logged in.

I'll look into the mobile issue. Not sure if that can be solved.

When I go to the Recent Threads page, the same threads that have NEW next to them in the results, do not have them. Even if I open the thread, scan to the end, then run the search again, they all still have the NEW icons next to every one.

Is it at all possible to hide a specific category from the Recent Threads page? If not, any suggestions for a workaround?

You can hide all the boards within a category by specifying the IDs of the boards thus effectively hiding any results from that specific category:

https://support.proboards.com/threads/recent?filters[]=board_id:except:3,5,9

would hide any results from board 3, board 5 and board 9

conversely you can choose to include results from only a specific board:
https://support.proboards.com/threads/recent?filters[]=board_id:eq:44
