I got it working by making it an actual link (not just text to be copied into the address bar)

I see what we were doing incorrectly. We were expecting to just copy and paste the link for an automatic embed, potentially because the OP wrote, "Paste the link to the TikTok and it magically appears..."
Using the "embed link" button does generate a working embed of a TikTok video.
I appreciate your time and your help.

I appreciate your time and your help. You would need to enable the feature on your forum that automatically creates a link when you paste if you wish for it to operate that way else you have to specifically create a link. * setting it to "no" on my test forum caused pasted text URLs to automatically be made clickableTry clicking on the "insert link" image to see if you can insert the link that way. Some forums don't have the buttons available in the quick reply and you may have to use the full reply.
Edit: It works.

How do I make it so my members can post Tik Tok vids? Help, please. This thread contains a posted plugin that allows users to embed Tik Tok videos in their posts. If you do not know how to install a plugin that has not been submitted to the online library then see: Downloading and Importing Plugins [GUIDE]one of my members wants to post Tik Tok vids from her phone and not possible.

REVELATI0N, I've never used TikTok before other than to test out this plugin, but I will try to answer one question you asked me. I had someone who does use TikTok test this out for me and he stated that the TikTok app only provided people with short links, which are dissimilar to the embed links given to you by the TikTok website. So, whilst testing the plugin, it couldn't embed short links provided by the app, but it could embed the long links provided by the website.

REVELATI0N , I've never used TikTok before other than to test out this plugin, but I will try to answer one question you asked me. Hi bigballofyarn , Can you give an example of a short versus long link? [Plugin] comes preconfigured to recognize tik tok links of the form https://www.tiktok.com/@{username}/video/{video ID}. If there are other forms a tik tok url can take then they can be added to the plugin's autoform using the first (preconfigured) entry as a template. Please offer some feedback so it can be improved upon (thumbnails, responsiveness, etc.) and also note that it is written to support any site that supports the oEmbed protocol not just Tik Tok.

Chris , This is a link given to my moderator by the TikTok app, and one that he tried to embed. vm.tiktok.com/TTPdkjqNHw/
This is a link given to me on the website. https://www.tiktok.com/@hanson/video/7060239687570705711
Edit:
He was logged in to his TikTok account. I was browsing the website as a guest. I do not have an account.

Apparently, TikTok offers the shortened URL on their mobile app and there are third parties that have figured out the algorithm and have even created browser addons [Chrome,Firefox] to shorten the URL independent of TikTok The problem here is that this plugin employs the oEmbed API supplied by TikTok which only accepts the long URL so shortened mobile URL support is not currently possible and to be clear Proboards plugin do not yet operate in mobile mode.

I do understand and it's not a problem. I have no attachment to TikTok. I think we both learned something in this process, however.

I downloaded the newest version of this plugin since it wasn't working anymore and I'm having trouble getting it to work. I tried doing it the same way as in the past, copyingi the video ID and putting it as a web link. Also tried video embed just to test.
Is there something i'm doing wrong that has changed?

I can't answer that question without a forum URL showing an example of what you are doing. EDIT:
If you are referring to the use of a shortened mobile URL in this post: Then those shortened mobile URLs are not supported . You would need to use the full URL ( https://www.tiktok.com/@theharrisalterman/video/7076894549729217834/) instead of the shortened mobile URL ( vm.tiktok.com/TTPdPq1g8Y/) both of which lead to the same tiktok resource. Apparently, TikTok offers the shortened URL on their mobile app and there are third parties that have figured out the algorithm and have even created browser addons [Chrome,Firefox] to shorten the URL independent of TikTok The problem here is that this plugin employs the oEmbed API supplied by TikTok which only accepts the long URL so shortened mobile URL support is not currently possible and to be clear Proboards plugin do not yet operate in mobile mode.plugins dont work on mobile and it wont work with mobile linksIf auto video embeds are enabled on your forum, just copy and paste the desktop url If auto video embeds are disabled, then you have to press the insert link button and put in the url I read this all in the thread.
