Contributions were only initially mentioned here on Support while we did a "soft launch" of the system. What you and your members are seeing now is simply the "full launch" of the program, and we sent a PM to all PB members. In all fairness, I think the point we're making here is not really being addressed. We know why and how. We are asking why those who already were financially invested in proboards and had already given to this fund raiser in advance of this PM rollout, were still lumped in with those who are ONLY using the free boards and had not invested anything? We consciously made the decision to send the message to everyone on our service. If we had excluded members from this message I'm sure we would have gotten questions about why they didn't also receive it (we also had people ask about not yet receiving it when the messages were going out in waves). The simplest and most direct solution is to simply send the message to anyone, even those who may have already contributed previously during our soft launch. We are planning on introducing new methods of making service-wide announcements in v6, but currently this is the best communication method we have to speak to all our ProBoards members. Thank you for your contribution and thank you for using ProBoards.

We are asking why those who already were financially invested in proboards and had already given to this fund raiser in advance of this PM rollout, were still lumped in with those who are ONLY using the free boards and had not invested anything? Disclaimer that I'm not PB staff, but some other food for thought in addition to Michael's response: Part of this is probably also just a misstep in communications text; the text was very broad, under the assumption that this was the first time someone was seeing it — the discrepancy between 'active PB Support Forum users' and 'active PB forum service users' is really large, so it was catering to the largest common denominator. It might have been helpful to include a sort of acknowledgement along the lines of 'If you've already contributed, thank you for doing so!' (though from a messaging standpoint, it might have been detrimental because I'm certain PB would like to encourage repeat contributions if folks are so inclined), but alas, hindsight is 20/20. Also, because ProBoards doesn't frequently send out messaging, and because PB is (as noted) a nine-person organisation, they're a little green when it comes to marketing messaging best practices. There are likely going to be a some missteps moving forward as ProBoards tries to make sure all users are kept better informed with service-wide updates, so I would encourage patience & understanding of a learning curve as opposed to assuming intentionally doing something that isn't appealing. Again, I'm not a PB employee, but I hope this is informative nevertheless.
