Most of mine are in pretty stable mutual funds, so I don't have a lot of ebb or flow either way. Although I wish mine looked more like Poleon's.

I just sold a few of my low micro-cap stocks. They were doing really well, but with the way they’ve been dropping I didn’t want to risk losing money. Haha

Like you, most of my 401k is in a mutual fund (Fidelity Contrafund). I've been very pleased with the returns. It generally keeps pace or exceeds the major stock indices and also has an automatic dividend reinvestment.

Poleon is a ProBoards member, a man who knows how to manage his funds, though he only visits sporadically nowadays. He is known for his sage advice, wonderful sense of humor, and privacy. I spoke with him in August of last year and he and the missus were doing well. I miss seeing him here.

This is the Poleon. Yes, I am an investor with a large portfolio, mostly now in individual stocks spread out over several categories. I make most of my income off dividends which I reinvest in the same stocks as I have in the portfolio. Like Warren Buffet, I have been investing for nearly 65 years since my early twenties so What I do and how I do it might seem foreign to many of you. My portfolio consists of nearly 90 stocks which is way more than most financial advisors would tell you can be managed successfully. HOwever, I ran the Poleon Group for many years before turning it over to my eldest son and my career was that of an investment banker. I do not like ETFs, mutual funds nor emerging markets. I seldom do options nor puts and calls and I think bit coins are silly. I mostly trade in companies that make or sell the things that people need every day. And most importantly, I invest rather than trade.
