I'm not a picky brand eater, I'll eat a can of cold spaghettios for dinner if I need to but I've been watching more home made how tos lately and seems like you get pretty much the same result over just buying something premade at the store and at most times cheaper.
So would anyone like to argue what is worth the extra money to make at home vs finding it premade at a store.

I prefer to make my own rather than ready made. Largely because then I know what's in it. The ingredient lists on some canned foods and ready made foods are more frightening than website coding!!!

I tried homemade toilet paper, but ultimately opted for store bought.

Let's put it this way: if I were a Sim, I'd have 0 cooking skill points.

So would anyone like to argue what is worth the extra money to make at home vs finding it premade at a store. I have long ago stopped cooking. In the UK, you can buy excellent ready-made dinners for the microwave and oven. I always buy the ones that cost a little more, not the cheap stuff that is, as Hippiejo said, full of stuff you don't want in your food. For example, the supermarket Tesco has "Tesco's Finest" food that cost a little extra, but is better quality. And ASDA's better quality food is called "Extra Special". Apart from the time you save by not cooking, you also save electricity/gas. And if I was to buy all the ingredients that go into each meal, I would pay at least that, if not more than I pay for the finished product, and it would probably not even taste as nice. Yes, 20 years ago, the ready-made meals weren't of good quality, and tasted like cardboard, but over the years, the quality of the food has drastically improved.

I'm a fan of from scratch cooking when I can. last weekend I made Spaghetti Amatriciana with from-scratch pasta noodles (I used eggs from my backyard chickens) and from scratch sauce which I used backyard tomatoes, basil and oregano for. The pancetta I bought at a store because I ain't got no slaughter house nor do I want to slaughter any animal. I make pizza dough/sauce from scratch all the time too with backyard veggies as toppings and homemade mozzarella. I really love doing my own preparing. One day I'll have land and grow my own wheat ajd corn and can even make my own flour and bread etc.

I can and preserve a whole lot of what my family eats, and most times, it is loads cheaper. I can make 36 jars of strawberry jam for the cost of 2 jars at the store, and mine has a lot more robust flavor.
