In a therapist's office, I believe it. But as a leisure activity at a carnival or fair, I don't know.

Also you have to want to be hypnotized. Not an easy thing I believe.

I believe that it exists, but I have never been one to want it done to me.

When I was in high school, they brought in a hypnotist during one of the mandatory programs. I watched a bunch of my peers appear to be hypnotized, but I felt nothing. I can only imagine that doing this in a high school now would cause untold numbers of lawsuits and scathing social media posts from parents.

This. I've had hypnotherapy a few times, but it's rather different than the typical 'stage' hypnotism.
