Do you prefer building a site by using wordpress or coding it from the ground up After having just gone through a horrible process with wordpress, I don't want to use them ever again. How about you? What do you prefer?

I believe most will just stick with what they're comfortable with coding in.

I found Wordpress to be so hit or miss, but did stick with it for a few years.

Do you prefer building a site by using wordpress or coding it from the ground up While working at the marketing agency I deployed more WordPress-based websites than custom-coded. In fact, the only websites I custom coded were either exceptionally small and/or static, where I typically would use a tech such as Gatsby. Or, very custom. In which case I used whatever I felt was best. I detested it at first. But once I was accustomed to it (which had to happen... I inherited 50+ clients, all running on WordPress), it was very useful. Websites were relatively quick to develop and deploy. The few clients we had that wanted to manage it themselves afterwards were happy because of how easy that is. And maintenance on them was usually a breeze.

Wordpress has its benefits and can be a powerful tool to use, but it depends entirely on the end goal.
All our client sites run on Wordpress, but my company has worked hard to develop a process that combines the end-user friendliness of WP and reducing the bloat of WP into something that works for all.

I have set our orchestras website up with Wordpress. Very easy to use, never had problems with it.

Honestly, I do both. As someone who can code and build websites, I like to build from the ground up. At least that way, I'm solely the reason something isn't working. WordPress, on the other hand, is quite convenient. Especially with pre-made themes that are fully customizable and drag and drop interfaces make it even easier to place and move content.

I have to use WordPress to build my employer's website. However, it is a fairly old version and I find it to be unnecessarily difficult. Visual builder plugins don't work, and I primarily see blocks of code everywhere that I have to edit manually.

They're comfortable with coding in.For me, WordPress is more convenient to use than coding the site from the ground up. However, for a while now, I don't really have time to build sites for others as it was my third job, but when I create one for myself or for my acquaintances, I opt for a website builder which doesn't require coding to finish it quicker. If you want to know what website builder I am using then more info is here.
