Disappearing Page Numbers & Advanced Moderation Options

I've been tampering with a skin and have lost two things.

1) We can no longer see page numbers for boards that have more than 1 page of threads, nor can we see page numbers within a thread that has multiple pages of replies. It used to show up in the container at the top, but alas, tis missing. I have been searching high and low to see where the code I botched is, but I can't. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

2) Likewise, when I am in a board looking at a list of threads, I can select them but when I click ACTIONS it does not give me the MODERATE option for some odd reason. That is only showing up once I have clicked into an individual thread. As you can imagine, it complicates moving/locking multiple threads at once.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can end my suffering. Combing through code looking for something I don't know how to spot is worse that combing through a head of hair looking for lice!

Without a URL we can't do anything. If you want/need help, please provide a URL and ensure that the skin in question is set to default so guests can see it.

If that's not an option for you (totally OK if so, i get it!), you'll need to hold for someone who is willing to join your forum in order to help trouble shoot (some folks are open to that, others [like myself] tend to avoid it).

Gotcha. There isn't just a universal place that people go to in order to edit these things? Yeah, the skin isn't ready to set as default--we have a community it would confuse if done abruptly.

There's a universal place, but since you mentioned you've been making a skin we'd need to see some of the changes in action -- otherwise, we'd be throwing guesses based on what the default is; even if we asked for the template to be copy/pasted here to compare to the original, depending on what changes you've made to the theme that may not hold the answer (as components tend to be connected).

Unfortunately I only pop in here in between my tasks at work / personal projects so I don't have the time for account registration + debugging  or I'd help more. It is going to be a little harder to get help if you can't share the theme yet, but another option might be to provide screenshots & the .pbt file (export the theme) so someone can install it on a test forum.

Sorry I can't be more solid assistance at this time!

I agree that it would be unwise to use a theme with problems as the default (or even make it available to the general membership) on any forum other than a test forum.

But that really shouldn't be necessary. We could guess at what you might have done wrong, such as omitting the $[pagination] template variable on the Board and Thread layout templates. Or perhaps there's a Style Sheet issue that's preventing display or causing the elements within the pagination to have the color and background-color to be transparent or share the same color and background-color as the background-color of the control-bar.

But rather than guess, it would be much more efficient for you to export the problematic theme to your computer. Then upload it as an attachment to a post in this thread. That way one of us can import it to a test forum and debug it for you. We could then advise you on how to remedy the problems.

Thank you both, Kami and Retread! I've discovered that the issue IS in the Layout Templates, and knowing that page #s are referred to as $[pagination] should make this go swimmingly! Thank you both so much for taking the time to respond. It is much appreciated.
