Latest Posts on front page customized how I want

I know of the plugins, and option in the settings for the latest post but I can't find one to display how I need. 

'Last Poster' posted in 'This thread' at 'This time'

I'm fairly sure that's how I want it. But nevertheless, I want to be able to customize it how I ultimately finally decide and display it on the front page.

My question is: what is the basic way to do this?
I know there's a page that displays last threads and posts. Is there a way to get that innerHTML and enter it into a custom table on the front page?

Essentially, how do I retrieve the most recent post info and display it on the front page?

Out of curiosity can you provide a link to your forum? This information is available (though slightly different in format) in the info centre by default.
