When someone gets banned they can’t see anything.

Hi all Not sure what the difference is? if I disable an account can they still view the forum as a guest? which do you do and when do you ban people? why do we have the option to ban or disable? thanks Ban and Disable are two different tools you can use, and each has a different intended function: Banning is a comprehensive way to prevent a user not just from participating on your forum but viewing it, making new accounts, etc, for as long as their credentials are banned. You have more control when banning someone as well — you can choose between banning someone based on their username, their IP address, their Global ID (email address), or any combination of these three things (including all of them). A ban is intended to be used if you do not, under any circumstance, want someone to participate on your forum. You can set bans to expire automatically, but they're intended for long-term or permanent use. Disabling simply prevents access from a single account. This doesn't prevent users from viewing the forum as a guest or creating new accounts under the same IP / Global ID. You cannot disable an account based on a Global ID or an IP, just on a per-account basis. The intention for disabling is that it's used on a temporary basis — some examples of when you would ban are: temporary suspensions as a disciplinary action, if a user's behaviour is under investigation but not yet needing to be banned, as a favour for a friend who has poor impulse control and asks to be prevented from accessing their account for a while, etc. Ultimately, whether you decide to ban or disable is up to you: there are overlaps on the user-end experience, so it really boils down to what you as an administrator need in any given circumstance.

Do global bans expire (when a date is set) at the same time as username and ip bans?
