So I was just sitting here thinking before I went to bed and I was wondering besides myself has some noticed that certain types of roleplay sites are no longer advertised on proboards?
The MAJOR EXAMPLE I noticed is the lack of Weyr's or simply Dragonriders Of Pern Sites. I think I've only seen like one that's still advertised here.
Are there other sites you've noticed that have seemed to vanish from proboards?
I wonder why this is; I know I've kind of gotten away from proboards after slamming head first too many times into the 1,000 board brick wall.

A lot of the Weyr sites have gone to Play by Email formats, mainly because of the constant adult subject matter that is not allowed on ProBoards. Most are not satisfied with just raising dragons and want to concentrate on the details of the Rise instead of “fading to black.”
It is the nature of entertainment for themes and subject matter to wax and wane. While Harry Potter once ruled the RPG forum world previously, new movies and shows have captured their interest and time instead. While people look back fondly to their old love of a genre, they simply don’t want to necessarily participate in it anymore.
I remember your sites and how you mixed Star Trek with Transformers with Egyptian lore with Pern with G.I. Joe (was there also Pokémon?) and how you kept starting new sites all over again with a slightly different slant but always with the same lead character who was hundreds of years old with a semi-truck tattoo and there were tons of boards.

Too much of anything can get stale while people do move to social media. I think a lot of it is that just kids have grown out of RPGs and grown out of it I know age isn't a huge factor in hobbies it's just that people move on grow older work normal jobs and don't really have time to write articles just for a roleplay anymore despite what the factor of the category is.

Yup the Semi-Truck always represented Optimus Prime being Akadeanna's Autobot Guardian. I kind of drifted away myself from much of proboards after slamming head-first into the 1000 board limit too many times, I've tried coming back, but I don't know about it especially with what seems the lack of too much interest here on proboards

While Harry Potter once ruled the RPG forum world previously, new movies and shows have captured their interest and time instead. While people look back fondly to their old love of a genre, they simply don’t want to necessarily participate in it anymore. That's true. Harry Potter forums did last a relatively long time, but with the last book and film a few years ago now, the popularity of them have now declined. I was never in to roleplaying myself, but can remember seeing the phases of roleplaying genre in the support board and the advertising board. Not the right order, but you would get a phase when it was mostly roleplaying forums about horses, then wrestling, then vampires ( twilight? ), and way back in the day when i first joined here there were a lot of star trek ones, but those were popular at the time off the back of arguably star trek's most popular - at least most prolific release period - of the 90s. Pokemon seems to be quite popular again now with the old generation fans and new ones. My nephew absolutely loves it. There is perhaps some interest there again now which had previously waned.

I used to see Harry Potter and Warrior Cats sites all the time. While there are still a lot, I feel like I see them advertised a lot less.
