I have 3 watches, 1Seiko from my wife for anniversary, 1 Citizen for 15 years of service at work 10 years ago, and 1 1776 commemerative pocket watch from my dad. At 20 & 25 years of service at work I picked clocks that chime, as time spent at work represents. Current wear, Attachments:

My watch has cellular capabilities and it's one of the biggest providers of comfort for me. Because of my disability, having my watch assist me when navigating on the streets, remind me of events, give me a quick glance at my text messages and so on, has helped me navigate life a lot easier than when I was growing up. Yes, of course it's our money and our choice, but the choice to have a smart watch can sometimes be the biggest difference between life and a hospital visit. It's not a professional replacement for medical equipment, but having a general idea of how my blood sugar, oxygen levels and heart rate are doing gives me the comfort I need. I also have quick access to emergency services or my contacts should I need it and either not have access to my phone, or be in a situation where I cannot physically pull it out. I have tried to live without one, as I had done so most of my life prior to my discovery, but having this extra piece of mind is absolutely worth it for me. I'm somewhat attached to my smart phone as well, but I'm working on disconnecting from it by removing apps and using the mobile version of websites, for example. But my watch feels like the right amount and balance for my needs.

Smart WatchesA GOOD WATCH doesn't just display the time of dayβit can also elevate your outfit and sometimes just make you feel good. Smartwatches can do even more, from tracking workouts and measuring heart rate to offering up notifications and giving you a way to control smart home devices. While you're wearing a connected watch, you can leave your mobile phone in your pocket and just check your wrist for urgent notifications.

It's rude to look at your watch sometimes, too. Checking the time inherently runs the risk of being perceived as rude in certain situations. But I think we live in a world where most people will overlook a companion checking the time or a notification on their phone, because everyone does it quite frequently. Obviously, familiarity will play a huge part in this, with younger generations being more open to phone-checking than the older ones who didn't have phones in their formative years.
I haven't worn a watch since I was 17 or 18, largely because of the redundancy. My phone was always a must-have, while my watch slowly got left behind until I just stopped putting it on. I've flirted with considering a smartwatch from time to time, but I still can't get over the redundancy of it. The few conveniences one affords do not justify the cost. If I'm wearing a watch again, I need the full-featured wow factor, which doesn't come cheap.
I also have a screen in my face most of the day at work and home, so telling the time is just a quick glance to the corner.

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 that I use for training that links well to both my phone and Garmin 830 and a few G-Shocks I've collected over the years.

Does the Vivoactive 3 have a screen? Or is it one of the slim ones. I was between that and the Apple Watch.

Do I wear a watch? No. Do I have a cell phone? No. I know what time I need to be at work, when there is an event, and when I am needed/want to look after my grandchildren. I have a clock, tablet, PC, landline and a calendar. If my family or friends want to reach me, they know how. Suits me.

I have an Apple Watch. Before getting this Iβd go through phases of wearing one regularly and long phases of not bothering, but the connectivity with my phone has definitely made it worthwhile. I use the fitness stuff a fair bit too.

Although I do use a phone to pull out for the time I did also wear a watch as well as the last one was a Christmas gift from my sister and family therefore it actually means something to me. I do also like having something on my wrist as well, maybe I'm old fashioned. Currently though I need to take it to the jewlers however to replace the battery.

Does the Vivoactive 3 have a screen? Or is it one of the slim ones. I was between that and the Apple Watch. Yes it has a standard screen.
It was an easy choice for me as I'm deep into Garmin gear and I'm applephobic
