I've been using my phone to tell time for years, but maybe I should reinvest in a watch. It's rude to pull out my phone sometimes.

I haven’t worn a watch in decades, which is funny because I used to collect them when I was a teenager.

I have always worn a watch as that was the only reliable thing years ago when we had no mobiles, internets etc and it has become a habit for me and the wife nowadays, I can't be bothered reaching into my pocket, retrieve my mobile, open it up to check the time, it's easier just lifting your wrist up and checking, takes a few seconds doing that.

Funny you should ask about watches. I am in the process of trying to find a new one as I find it rude to pull out a phone, turn it on, etc. just to check the time.

I always wear a watch when I go out. Not ALL humans carry a smartphone with them, User, and I don't even have one. I have a mobile phone, which I only use for emergencies.

I kind of used to be like that. I held out for many years before getting a mobile. I never liked them when they were just phones for calling and texting. I ended up getting one when i needed to be able to load websites out and about when i go for walks. I could maybe live without it now, but it has so many benefits for every day life that just make things easier, and comfortable, from access to your bank account, to maps for directions and google/wikipedia for looking things up when needed. Then there is the entertainment you have in the radio, streaming music or watching videos etc when you find yourself waiting around somewhere. I know they can also be annoying, but you have the options available to make it not so. I used to wear a watch all the time when out, but found myself leaving it places. For that reason it was a decent - but unspectacular watch - which meant it was usually still there when i went back for it later! I like the idea of wearing a watch now, but don't really have a need purpose for it.

You don't need a smartphone to be connected to all smart watches, their is definitely a generation gap when it comes to technology but the beauty of being a person is that we can adapt to change and learn. You can do whatever you want with your life though as Craig said it's just useful for so much information. You can also always just get a no smartwatch and not a soul would judge you for it.

Never mind the generation gap. You are being patronizing. You don't know who I am or what I am, so don't get all judgemental.
I happen to LIKE wearing a watch. I don't want a smart phone, that doesn't make me someone who doesn't embrace technology. I have owned laptops and worked on computers most likely before you were born, so don't judge me.
I don't want to spend every waking minute staring into a phone, clicking mindlessly through it, as I see the "younger" people do all the time. Maybe YOU should get back to the basics, look up and smell the coffee.

If you don't want to have a smartphone, that is of course entirely your choice. Apologies.

I have a watch but I rarely wear it. It’s a watch that looks like a bracelet and is more of a fashion accessory than to tell time.

I was very skeptical of getting an Apple Watch, but when it was bought for me at Christmas here. I have to say it is very convenient! I love it. So yes I do. But NOT ALWAYS, just when I am out. I couldn't wear it all the time.

People I know who have mobiles forget to charge them to the full and not checking them when they leave to catch a train, bus etc, waiting for their transport and look at their mobiles for the time and then realise when they look at a blank screen that the mobile is dead, then they say to themselves "I wish I had a watch to see what the time is?"
