I am always looking for new material to read. I think this is one of the questions that I enjoy asking folks who I am trying to get to know better too. So how about it, can you tell me what is one book that you'd say has changed your life? Bonus points if you can tell me why.

Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman. A fictional account of the dreams of a genius, this book opened my mind to so many possibilities regarding the nature of time. I’ve spent many hours daydreaming about the ramifications of some of the suggested scenarios.

Any book on astronomy as, when I was growing up, I had a fascination about the stars and would stare at the sky on a clear night and it would send tingles down my spine just looking at the billions of stars just glittering many light-years away.

Harry Potter, but that's not likely to be a new series for many lol
The why? I was a child, 3rd grade, living in a plethora of child abuse from all four parents (bio and step), exacerbated by having no friends and a large number of bullies due to my small size and temperament. Books were my solace before, but then here's this skinny kid with glasses, plucked from a house of abuse and sent to the most magical place where he was so important, so loved, and where he immediately became friends with super wholesome people. It created a hunger, and kept me through the darkness.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
Why? Because before that I'd always seen reading as a chore (for school) and hadn't realised it could be enjoyable. Heard the radio show the previous year and loved it, bought the book on release day.
Still reread the series every few years.

So how about it, can you tell me what is one book that you'd say has changed your life? Bonus points if you can tell me why. I can't honestly say that any books has changed my life. There IS a book that I read recently that made me look at life, older women, and the era I was born in a bit differently: The Ride of Her Life: The True Story of a Woman, Her Horse, and Their Last-Chance Journey Across America If you belong to Goodreads here is the synopsis, and I think, my review-which wasn't the best review I have ever written! Like Dianne, no one book has changed my life. But I love reading, so all books impact me in some way.
EDUCATION OF A WANDERING MAN by Louis L'Amour is the most recent one I've read that has helped me think about things differently.

And it's not written like most autobiographies, which I think makes it more interesting as well.

Cannot say I have a book that changed my life -- I read so much that it seems to be different books for different reasons. I just love to read and read a whole lot of genres. Recently, it is to relax and unwind and forget about the world around me.

I have gotten a few goods ideas or helpful thoughts (from a few non-fictional books). I have liked some of the fictional books(that I have read).

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is what made me fall in love with reading and want to pursue knowledge and made me dream.
