Setting Rule On Image Size. What's Good?

I want set up a rule on image for signatures. What's a good image size to set as a rule?

For signatures? I'd say it depends on your tastes. i would say no wider than 800px and no taller than 200px. Traditionally, signatures are anywhere from 450px to 750px wide and 100px to 200px tall.

My favoured size is 450x280, but that was back when I used signatures; I think most people lean towards bigger now.

 Ok thanks, that helped.  What I'm thinking as part of the fun, I'm wanting members do a "title" signature for their posts if they want; for example Sir, Lord, Lady.

Will 700x280 be a good rule?

I honestly don't know! Like I said this is really subjective. I don't think there is a 'wrong' answer to this, especially as images can always be resized if they feel too disruptive. (:

This really depends on things like your board width and what you might have on the sides. With a sidebar, I've always opted for 500x250. With both side bars, 300x100 was my go to.

My signature is rather long and skinny so it doesn't take up much vertical space.  Such signatures "look ;ike they belong there"  IMHO.
