Will you ever really feel too old to do thing like game anymore? It's an odd thing but as I'm turning 30 soon I've kind of lost my connection with games, I still like to buy them I just ordered a 3ds mostly to collect and work on. The prices have staggered so high due to rarities/lock down or loss of support via manufacturer I wanted one for the nostalgia.
Don't know if it's just depression hitting hard but I just have little interest in things I use to enjoy doing anymore like playing games. Kind of wondering if others are feeling the same as age creeps up. I know 30 isn't that old but it's getting up there.
Though theirs those in their 50s/70s etc that can totally crush younger folk at certain hobbies whatever it might be. Just an odd mental thought that's been bothering me or maybe it's just as simple as out growing something. Age doesn't have to reflect everything.

There are some things I lost interest in as I got older, but it all felt very natural so it never bothered me. I've never felt like my age alone is enough to stop me from doing anything. Like, if I someday stop playing games, it won't be because I feel like I'm not allowed to anymore because I'm too old
I do hope to always be a gamer, though. If anything I've only become more of one as I've gotten older lmao.

I was a pinball wizard in my youth but, lost interest in my early 20's. Haven't touched any kind of video game since Pong so, I am not the guy to ask about gaming. However, change of taste in all things is a natural part of maturing(I hate the word aging). My tastes in food, clothing, entertainment, travel, etc. have all changed. Doesn't bother me a bit and I am 63.

I started with Pong in the early 70's and am still going strong. The few breaks I've had where when I worked in the industry and when the kids where very young.
Inversely, I know a lot of people who really didn't get into gaming untill they'd retired at 60/65 yo. It's good cheap entertainment on cold winter nights and keeps the brain exercised.

Can't say I feel that way personally. I'm 32 and still playing video games, though now I mainly play games for reviews I do on my YouTube channel. I don't know if my age will ever get up there where I don't feel like playing games anymore, but I can't predict the future.

I remember when I was young and I made a list about how to better myself. It included "play Berserk to improve reflexes." LOLOLOL!!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berzerk_(video_game)I'm currently 57 and feeling incredibly old, especially since my psoriatic arthritis has been rearing its ugly head lately. A year or so ago, I stopped my RP forum, having found it too stressful to run, but other than that my hobbies and interests haven't really changed much over the past couple of decades.

Have you considered passing it to a trusted member? I don't think the average folk really understand how hard it is to get your mindset out of stress or depression it comes with mood swings and loss of interest but still knowing something is their to stay helps knowing you can just pick it up again. That's what I love about digital worlds everything is archived one way or the other and it would be a shame to just erase everything from existence which is why I understand hobbyist and enthusiast some go way over board but it's all about what you enjoy doing.

I don't feel too old to play games or engage in other hobbies, I just don't have the time to do so as I please. Gaming has always been a very private thing to me; I want to be able to focus on what's on the screen and feel free to inhabit the game world and be immersed, free of interruptions. I work forty hours a week, my girlfriend and I live together, and we share a day off. I only get nine hours out of a single day of the week of alone time and gaming only fits into that chunk of time if I don't have anything else I have to do that day.
The whole gaming experience has changed for me and I miss it. I want to play those 20, 30, 40, 50+ hour open-world epic games, but they take time to get into and I just don't have it. Age has nothing to do with it. My social group skews younger and most people are convinced I'm in my early-mid-twenties upon meeting me. Even my friends often forget I'm in my early thirties until one of us makes a pop culture reference the other is just slightly too old or too young to get (they refer to a cartoon I was just old enough to have not been watching or I refer to a band that faded from the spotlight before they were old enough to have appreciated it, usually).
Honestly, I think time is the biggest factor for most people. No one is ever too old for their hobbies, they just get too busy. Growing out of something means adapting to your current situation.
So, to summarize: no, I don't feel too old to enjoy games anymore, I just don't have the time to enjoy them as I would like.

There's no such thing as being too old. I know some say playing video games is immature, but I mean... what's any different than reading books, watching TV, watching movies...? With video games you just get to interact in the worlds people read about and view in other forms of entertainment, and I don't see how you can be too old for FUN!

30............................my socks are older than you OT. My socks never last that long but I do have a few tour T-shirts that are >30 yo. Pre Covid I did meet someone at the Cambridge Folk Festival with an original 1967 festival shirt. Very faded and with a few small holes but impressive nonetheless. Back on topic. I Admin for a racing game forum on PB. The vast majority of members are over 30 and a fair few over 50 or 60. There's actually 4 people with "old" in their user name.

So, to summarize: no, I don't feel too old to enjoy games anymore, I just don't have the time to enjoy them as I would like. I've had a similar experience. At the start of quarantine last year, I bought some old video game systems I used to own (plus two new ones) and a bunch of games, thinking, "With all the extra time I'll have now, I'll have tons of time to play games again! Might as well stock up." But almost instantly my extra time (mostly saved by not having to commute to/from work) was filled with other things I had to do, and a year and a half later, I've barely touched that pile of games. I did make it halfway through Donkey Kong 64 last summer, though, so that's something.
