Hello. Just made a new forum with a buddy of mine and need to know how to narrow margins. I tried using #wrapper { overflow: visible; }
.container.posts { margin-right: -30%; margin-left: -30%; } in the style sheet, but nothing changed.
If anyone has a fix for this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

nothing changed because you effectively cancelled out the change. offsetting by -30 on one side and -30 on the other side puts it literally back where it was — if you move something 30 px to the left and then 30 pixels to the right, that's a net change of zero.
it sounds like you're trying to change the width of the forum so that the content is wider, would that be correct? either way, if you could provide a link to your forum it would be helpful to let you know the specific change that needs to be made.

No. So that they're smaller. More like the pages of a book, if that makes sense.

Not really, but that's more because I can't imagine how it would relate to a forum. Could you provide a link to your forum and use precise language to specify what you want to change?
