Per the Affiliate Exchange rules:

Affiliate images should be 88 pixels wide and 31 pixels high to conform with the affiliate standards that are already established.

You HAVE to have a photo, that’s how the affiliate program works, which is why a photo is required. You can use online programs like Canva.com to make your 88x31 pixel image and then upload it to an image hosting site like Imgbb.com to generate the link to your photo.
