I have posted about several problems on PB Support. Here I would like to post about a problem and its solution. I lightly searched the PB Support and I didn't find it addressed. Move the post if it fits better elsewhere. I was encountering some strange things related to my stylized/formatted postings - missing text, unintentional italics, colors, etc. Some other posters have reported mysterious attachments (blank) that they didn't put in. This was very frustrating. Then I found the problem and its solution. PB uses BB Code for post text, a simplified version of HTML. BB Code commands start as [xyz...] and often the first character of the string "xyz" triggers the corresponding command. And there is a huge list of "x" that can trigger BB Code commands (see link that follows). See BB Code Commands www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcodeSo, here is what I started doing and I suggest that others do the same. Not use square brackets [...] at all when posting at PB. In common writing, it is usual to add editorial comments within [...], but now I force myself to use (...) instead. It solved several of my PB post issues.

You will most likely find that many forums (not just ProBoards forums) uses BBCode for forum posting. It is quite common, even on website hosts that have forum modules. Also, BBCode is not necessarily the same on all types of forums. For ProBoards forums, I would suggest looking at the ProBoards' list of supported BBCode instead of an external list.

Thanks for the PB BB Code reference.
On a forum that I participate in, a poster was concerned that some posters were playing tricks on his posts when the issue was related to his inadvertent triggering of the BB Code.
