But yes ^^^^, there's loads of self-publishing companies that will do the admin and publicity. Well worth the percentage IMO. Often cheaper if you get a freelance proof/copy editor and commission your own cover art.

Doing it completely on your own is very pricy and risky but if it sells you'll see around 50% of the profits, compared to 7 or 8% from a big publisher.

Put exerts online first to gauge public opinion.

My brother did one of those companies where you pay, they print a limited run, and you get an ISBN. He ended up only selling to family.
