Growing up or at an early adult age, or even currently, did/do you have anything you wanted to do in life that was what you thought about most of the time? If so, what was that?
When I was a young kid, I wanted to be a fireman. Then when I was a little older, I wanted to be a racecar driver. I didn't end up doing either of those, but I'm still happy about what I've managed to do in the job I do have (I started off as just a temporary worker and now I'm staff there).

My dreams were always constantly changing. Apparently my desires were somewhat nomadic.
I was a lawyer, an astronaut, an actor, President, world ruler, time traveler, etc.

I had childhood dreams like being a firefighter, police officer and NASA astronaut. I also wanted to be president. Around the time I joined GT when I was roughly 13-14, I wanted to write novels, make computer games and YouTube videos. I was a devout mormon at the time, and I also wanted to be a successful religious leader in my former faith.
Now I'm approaching my 30s and I'm living one of those dreams; I'm now studying to professionally do film and animation. Plus I'm a mom now, a goal I never thought I've have.

I wanted to be many things over the years. First thing I ever wanted to be was a Nurse. Then I wanted to be a teacher, business woman (not sure what kind of business) an actress, a writer, an artist.

I've always wanted to live close to nature, which did come true for a brief time, but I fear will never be fulfilled in the future. I'd also like to be a paid illustrator, but at my age I am pretty sure I'd never pass the interview stage, since all companies want "young blood" nowadays.

My biggest dream was to have my account on Proboards Support turn 16 years old, and after 16 years of waiting, we've made it baby

Currently, my two biggest dreams are to get my writing published and own a pet snake. Why not selfpublish? Voila! Dream come true -and no I'm not trying to make light of your dreams, just a practical solution. Then again if your dreams are to be published by a well known publisher, then I know what you mean.

I DO know that there are quite a few self-publishing houses that get out there and promote. I do assume (and you know what they say about that!) that it all costs -cover promotion etc. I just don't know how much! You might want to try booksirens.com/

Is self-publishing expensive? There is vanity press for very short runs of a few hundred. That's very expensive. But yes ^^^^, there's loads of self-publishing companies that will do the admin and publicity. Well worth the percentage IMO. Often cheaper if you get a freelance proof/copy editor and commission your own cover art. Doing it completely on your own is very pricy and risky but if it sells you'll see around 50% of the profits, compared to 7 or 8% from a big publisher. Put exerts online first to gauge public opinion.
