Help and advice urgently needed

Hi all,

I am very new to all of this and have never used a forum before so I hope that this thread finds you well.

I am 38 years old and was diagnosed with ADHD 2 weeks ago. I am struggling quite badly to find support and guidance due to waiting times with private adhd specialists so I’m hoping someone here can help me with my current issue.

I wanted to ask, does anyone else struggle with bad days with their adhd? I am going through many very hard times in switching off my thoughts which revolve round very negative and bad past experiences and feelings of depression and anxiety. It becomes debilitating as it is like I am stuck in my own head and focusing all my attention solely on unhappy things. I have suffered with these situations throughout my life so it is nothing new but has become far more frequent and consistent this year in particular.

I have lost many very close friends this past year and it has been a difficult thing to deal with. My emotions are all over the place and very much hard to control. It’s so hard to snap out of it but sometimes all I need is a well needed nights sleep then the next day I am in more control. Does anyone or has anyone been through the same problems?

Any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated. It would just be reassuring to know that it isn’t just me that experiences days like this.

I didn't want to just say that this is a support forum for ProBoards forum issues. So I searched PB for "ADHD" and found that there is 1 forum for it (there may be others with related names). adhdcommunity.boards.net/

Welcome to ProBoards! I also have ADHD and was diagnosed around 2 weeks ago along with yourself it looks like! 

I started medicine about 3 days ago and it feels very weird that how quickly I'm finding everything in focus. My mind doesn't feel "cloudy" anymore and I didn't know this was supposed to be a normal feeling. 

However, this is a ProBoards support forum! There's an active ADHD community over at: aadduk.proboards.com/ with many new posts every day. I found this by simplying typing into ADHD + proboards into google (staff feel free to delete if inappropriate as this is a lost user).
