My husband brought this coin home from change he got while working at his job! It’s from 1910!!! I collect coins, so he and his coworkers are always looking out for old coins in change for me. 🙂 Do you collect? My oldest is a Licinius I from 300AD. 😮

I collect, but I would not say that I'm active. When I find cool ones or old ones, I keep them, but I'm not the most diligent at looking for them. Maybe I should be. That's pretty cool!

I don't collect coins but I have a really old one dollar bill from way back (I forget what year) my mom took a dollar bill from her wallet and added it to my sticker book. There's a few coins in there but none are worth anything yet. 🥺

Money can very well be worth more than we think, a quarter can be worth a dollar funny enough I often check dates on coins you never know when that ultra rare one may just be sitting in your pocket and you end up spending it on a soda. Currency can be a mysterious puzzle to unlocking more currency.

That's a cool find. One of my favorite things from working as a cashier as a teenager was all the unique money I encountered.

From 1910!? I never thought you could still get something like that in our modern days! Well after seeing this, I might want to start collecting coins!

The coinage in the UK has changed several times in the last 100 or so years. I'm not a collector but I've got a small stack of English pennies dating back to 1730. And some old halfpennies. The only coin I have worth any real money is an 1966 silver Irish One Punt, actual sterling silver. Some limited edition thing and definitely not in general circulation. They did press a load of silver coloured ones but they're not quit as sought-after.

Does Spain and China still have holes in their coins? So interesting why they do that other than just looks.

Does Spain and China still have holes in their coins? So interesting why they do that other than just looks. Apparently, the only country right now that's still putting holes in their coins is Japan. Holes were placed for various reasons in the past, from ease of portability by running them through with a string, to conserving metal, to helping distinguish coins by feel. Here's a very interesting article about the subject: portlandcoins.blogspot.com/2011/12/coins-with-holes.html

Here's a very interesting article about the subject: portlandcoins.blogspot.com/2011/12/coins-with-holes.htmlI know the Norwegian 1 Krone coin with a hole is still legal tender but I'm not sure if they mint them anymore. Certainly still in limited circulation. But yes, Japan is a good example. There comes a stage where the metal costs outweigh the monetary value of a coin. When they've worth more in scrap than in a shop, it's time for a rethink.

Omg good point harryk but times change too tho I mean, to think of British Columbia ever bringing back the penny is hugely doubtful but the thought of our five dollar bill turning into a coin like our dollar and two dollar bills did, very likely but much later on down the road, it'll definitely throw my nieces off a little though. lol
